Hello,
First of all this is not my technique, it's of someone else but it's worth sharing.
Sometimes when you use keyword research tools to know the number of searches (search volume) any keyword gets - these tools are not always 100% accurate. It can be that the tool tells you a keyword gets 100 searches a day, but in fact it gets only 10.
So here's the method that's proven to give you the exact number of searches any keyword has.
You need a Google Adwords PPC account, even though you don't have to know how to do PPC at all. If you are already using that, create a seperate account for this technique or it will effect your account negatively because of low CTRs.
The technique:
1. Use the Google keyword tool to create a large keyword list. (or any other keyword research tool)
2. Copy all the good keywords, which means they have little to meduim competition, the good ones therefore.
3. Go to adwords.google.com
4. Create a PPC campaign with all these keywords. Make sure to wrap them in [ and ] for exact match only.
5. Set your PPC bid price really high, and write a totally irrelevant ad. If your keywords are about golf, write an ad about appartments for rent. You don't want people clicking your ad. Point ad to a random landing page.
6. Come back 24 hours later... check the "impressions" beside each keyword.
(Please make sure to turn OFF the Content Network so ads are only shown on Google search engine)
That's it.
So even though keyword research tools that are trusted like Google's own keyword research tool do provide great results - this "new" technique is very very good and I think you should use it to know the REAL exact number (without relying on tools) of searches any keyword has.
The important data to show why this technique is good to use is the fact that after using this some people saw huge difference between the number of search volume listed by keyword tools and the number they seen with this technique.
